Essentially Me's range of sophisticated perfumes has been created by perfumer Alec Lawless, born from his passion for natural fragrance. Alec has spent more than 20 years sourcing oils for his successful essential oils business, Aqua Oleum. This, combined with his love of good food and wine, naturally led him to spend many years blending perfumes and developing a range of perfume-making supplies.
As a niche perfumery, our aim is to recreate the golden age of perfume making, manufacturing delicate and complex fragrances from the finest natural aromatic ingredients available. We produce small quantities of fragrance in Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette strengths, in Italian Flint Glass bottles. Our core collection of 10 perfumes are available in 1ml miniature sizes in EDP strength, sold either in gift cards or sets of 5 to allow you to experiment and find the perfume which best matches your moods and body chemistry. The miniature perfumes can also be made into delightful wedding favours.
From time to time we produce limited edition perfumes, such as "Empress of India" created for BBC TV's The Victorian Pharmacy.
We also offer a bespoke perfume creation service for private clients, boutiques and spas, as well as teaching a range of perfume making courses. Our one-day "Make Your Own Perfume Workshop" is popular with perfume enthusiasts, small groups and hen parties; whilst our five-day "Artisan Perfumery" course equips both the serious enthusiast and professional with the skills to create sophisticated natural perfumes for themselves and other people.
We are a small, artisan business based in a lovely former woollen mill in the Cotswolds where we house a showroom, workshop, classroom and laboratory.
Alec Lawless also writes an interesting (and sometimes irreverant!) blog. Click here to read his thoughts about natural perfumery and sourcing natural perfumery materials.
