Artisan Perfumery Course
 

 This five-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to the art of natural perfumery, including how to work with an individual to construct a unique fragrance around their aromatic preferences. The course is very practical, combining a mix of lectures with laboratory work, pair work and group discussion.

Suitable for the experienced perfumer as well as enthusiasts looking to develop their competence.

 

Course content:
• History of Aromatics and Perfumery
• “Felt sense” - listening with the whole body
• Smelling, learning to categorise aromas
• Communication skills, working with clients without influencing their choices
• Methods of extracting essential oils from plants, preparation for use in perfumery
• Technical considerations for blending a quality fragrance
• The concept of “Heart, Nuance and Intrigue”® in a fragrance
• Volatility, Molecular Weight, Fixatives; combining with Heart, Nuance and Intrigue®
• Blending, ratios and record keeping
• Construction of a fragrance “on paper”
• Hands-on blending sessions – what works and what doesn't, use of laboratory equipment, storage and safe use of perfume ingredients
